Intel Eyes SambaNova Deal to Accelerate AI Expansion
Intel Corporation is reportedly advancing toward a potential acquisition of SambaNova Systems, a move that would bolster its position in the enterprise AI appliance market. The deal, if finalized, could challenge Nvidia and Groq's dominance in the sector.
Talks between Intel and SambaNova gained momentum in October, with shared leadership and investor overlap increasing the likelihood of a transaction. Lip Bu-Tan, Intel's CEO, also serves as executive chairman at SambaNova, while Intel Capital and SoftBank have stakes in both companies.
SambaNova's full-stack AI platform has already found traction across finance, healthcare, defense, and government sectors. The acquisition WOULD mark a strategic pivot for Intel as it seeks to redefine its AI roadmap ahead of 2026.
Intel shares traded at $38.63 following a 2.21% decline, despite outperforming the S&P 500 year-to-date. The market now watches for how this potential deal might reshape the competitive landscape in AI hardware.
